Steve Jenkins
âAt our meeting Steve will talk about the preparation, leadership, endurance and team work required to run a successful Hobart race campaign along with talking about the technologies being used on today’s racing yachts.
Bio
Steve has a sense of adventure and was kayaking grade 5 white water rivers in the Australia, USA and Europe in the early 1980’s, and spent 3 weeks kayaking grade 5 rivers in Tibet in 2004 which culminated on a Grade 4 river at Everest base camp 5100 meters above sea level.
Since hanging up his paddling gear, Steve has focused on sailing and navigating an Adelaide based racing yacht which successfully won all divisions of the Melbourne to Hobart West Coaster race in 2010, and they followed this up with 3rd place in 2 divisions in the Sydney to Hobart 2012 race.
When he’s not out sailing Steve manages a company called Datanet which is an IT business delivering rugged devices, industrial wireless and RFID based solutions to enterprise customers.
